The FCT  Travel & Tourism team is working together with the organizing committee of CMS Week 2017.  We  will be offering  transfers and tours during the event in Rio de Janeiro – Brazil.  In the hotels listed on the CMS Week 2017 website the best rates were negotiated exclusively for the participants of the event that will happen from September 25th to 29th, 2017.

Some useful information:

 

Currency – The Brazilian money is called Real and the official rate is published everyday on the local newspapers.

 

Passport – According to Brazilian law, you should carry it all the time. But we recommend that you leave it in the safety deposit box at the hotel.  Carry a copy of it with the hotel bussiness card.

Tips – Usually 10% to 15% at the restaurants, it is included in the bill in most of them.

 

Taxis – The regular yellow-metered taxi can be flagged on the streets.  We pay according by the meter, but there may be a surcharge per item of luggage. Uber Service is also avaiable.

 

Credit Card – It is widely accepted in stores, restaurants, bars and hotels.

 

Beach – We suggest to carry just enough: a towel, sunscreen lotion (this is very important) and a small amount of money.

​

Dress – Rio is very casual. Formal dress is only used in formal occasions.

​

Electric power – 127 V / 60 Hz  and 220 V / 50 Hz are most used. Most hotels provide a 220 V outlet for the guests.
