Pão de Açúcar (Sugar Loaf): Travel on a glass-walled cable car (in Portuguese, bondinho) from Babilônia Hill to Urca Hill. The two hills are more than 600 million years old. A natural, historical and touristic landmark of the city. The city of São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro was founded there in 1565.

 

Metropolitan Cathedral: At the Cathedral you will have some time to admire its unconventional pyramidal form with an internal diameter of 96 meters and a height of 80 meters.

 

Cinelândia: Popular name of a major public square in the centre of Rio de Janeiro. Its official name is Praça Floriano Peixoto, in honour of the second president of Brazil, Floriano Peixoto.It has a series of monumental public buildings facing the square. These are the Municipal Theatre (Theatro Municipal), the Brazilian National Library (Biblioteca Nacional), the Rio de Janeiro Municipality (Palácio Pedro Ernesto), the Higher Court (Tribunal Superior) and the National School of Fine Arts. The square concentrates a great part of the political and cultural life of Brazil. The buildings surrounding the square, mostly following the French Beaux-Arts architectural style, were a symbol of the modernisation of the city.
